Lessons: Work on What You Love

Every year I sit through two, long commencements, because I teach at two colleges. However, unlike many of my fellow faculty, I don’t mind them at all. Year after year, I sit and soak up some inspiration. I guess I’m just a sucker for preachy speeches. Probably because I’m a practitioner of them.
This year, at Rhode Island School of Design’s Commencement, I swooned over this crisp clear, short address by Bruce Mau, the multidisciplanary designer. His theme: Work On What You Love, tugged at my heartstrings. I think it applies to far more than art and design
